Another day

Well, I am officially a dope.

I have four websites that are following more or less the same exact progress and all are under construction.

And as I have completed steps of progress, I copy-n-pasted blog entries from one to another.

I did this post many days ago, but today instead of my regular update I am deleting those duplicates or editing them. Its best to have legitimate posts spread across time instead of dropping 10 all the same day. The information may be the same to readers, but search engines will rate a website higher if those entries are spread out. And might penalize if a bunch of stuff goes up the same day.

Anyway, a few weeks ago when I did this entry it was telling I released my eBook. The book has links that go back to my websites so I really need to get the sites at least somewhat ready before I start promoting that book.

And I have found the work to be simply overwhelming. Both in volume and in the learning curve. Even though I had working websites pre-COVID, everything is different now.

Since you’re here you will almost certainly be setting up your own website sooner or later and need to learn some of what I forgot. Some WordPress plugins work great. Others not so great. Sometimes they are designed by excellent programmers and they work with most other components of your website. In other cases the programmers are pretty incompetent and produce junk that conflicts with other plugins so a website just fails.

And then there is SEO considerations. Having identical blog posts on different websites makes the browsers think one site is plagiarizing from others. Since they don’t know which one is the original, they penalize all the sites and lower the ratings of all of them. It doesn’t make any difference if you legitimately own all the sites and are the original creator, you just can’t put identical work on multiple sites and maintain your good standing in the browsers.

And you have to do the research and testing to make sure everything works as its supposed to on your website. Don’t look for your momma to come clean up some mess you might make.

The Opt In forms still are not ready.
